This is a VERY quick overview of the various types and brands of the Steyr Armee Universal Gewehr variants available, I will be attempting to keep it up-to-date if possible.
Models:
A1- Characterized by an integrated 1.5X scope and an Olive Drab colored body.
A2- Characterized by a rail that replaces the integrated scope and allows the user to mount their own optics.
A3- Characterized by a forward rail system to allow for the mounting of accessories. Does not have the integrated fore grip of the A1 and A2.
Varients:
Short Barrel- Barrel ends at the front of the "upper" receiver.
Heavy Barrel- SAW version, long barrel with a forward mounted bi-pod. Built from an A1 base.
NOTES:
-The A1 model is often refered to as the "military" version
-The A2 model is often referred to as the "civilian, or special receiver" version.
Both Elephant AUG A2 Short Barrel = clone
Price: $50
FPS: 200 with .12s
Mags: Standard
Pro’s:
-Cheap.
Con’s:
- Bad externals as well as internals, overall bad quality.
JG AUG A1/A2/A3 = TM Clone
Price: $175- A1, $140 -A2, $220 -A3
FPS: 380-400
Mags: Standard
Pro’s:
- More manageable price
- A3 model comes with a MOSFET pre-installed
Con’s:
- Limited battery space
- Notoriously bad body compared to the TM and CA models
Classic Army Sportline A2/A2 Short Barrel = TM Clone
Price:$210
FPS: 300-350
Mags: Standard
Pro’s:
- Cheaper than a pro line AUG
- Good body
Con’s:
- Limited battery space
- Internals are not up to par for the price
Classic Army AUG A1/A2 = clone
Price: A1- $290, A2- $270
FPS: 290-310
Mags: Standard
Pros:
- Good external build, very solid
- Easily disassembled

Cons:
- Somewhat wobbly fore grip
- Limited Battery Space
- Hard to find in stock
Tokyo Mauri AUG A1/A2 = original
Price:
FPS: 285
Mags: Standard
Pro’s:
- Great hop-up unit
- Quality TM gearbox
- Easily Disassembled
Con’s:
- Somewhat low FPS
- Less robust externals
- Somewhat creaky body
- Limited battery space
