This is a VERY quick overview of the various types and brands of the numerous Knights Armaments (KAC) SR25/M110 variants available; I will be attempting to keep it up-to-date if possible.
There are three basic variants available:
SR-25 = The original style rail
XM110/M110 = A updated SR25 with a full length rail
URX = A second update to the XM110 with a URX (Universal Rail Extension) rail and adjustable stock
A&K SR-25/URX Automatic Electric Gun (AEG) = G&P Clone[/u]
Price: $200 - $230
FPS: 400 - 450
Mags: Standard G&P SR-25 AEG high cap and midcap mag
Pros:
- Exact clone of the G&P
- Full length SR-25 and short URX models available
- Good quality internals and externals
- High strength “Long version 2 gearbox” for high FPS
Cons:
- Not 100% Tokyo Marui version 2 compatible
- Metal is lower grade pot metal
The A&K SR-25 line is a quality copy of the G&P SR-25. The externals are of good quality and replicate the older SR-25 line well. The internals are also of good quality, with very few problems. The A&K SR-25 makes for a solid Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR) base.
ARES XM110/M110/URX Automatic Electric Gun = Original Design[/u]
Price: $450 - $510
FPS: 350 - 400
Mags: Proprietary ARES SR-25 AEG high cap and midcap mag
Pros:
- Offers both tan and black XM110 and M110 replicas
- Also available in URX
Cons:
- Standard version 2 gearbox with proprietary parts
- ARES internal quality
- Not compatible with other SR-25 brands
Like all ARES products the externals are extremely high quality and look and feel great. Unfortunately unlike the G&P and its clones the ARES uses a standard version 2 gearbox that is prone to breaking at high FPS. As a DMR the ARES is not suited to FPS higher than 400FPS without the high possibility of breaking, coupled with the proprietary internals the rifle pales in comparison to the G&P and clones as a sniper rifle.
Classic Army SR-25 Automatic Electric Gun (AEG) = G&P Clone[/u]
Price: $360 - $400
FPS: 400 - 450
Mags: Standard G&P SR-25 AEG high cap and midcap mag
Pros:
- High quality internals and externals
- High strength “Long version 2 gearbox” for high FPS
Cons:
- Not 100% Tokyo Marui version 2 compatible
Like the A&K the Classic Army SR-25 is a high quality clone of the G&P with the same potential as a DMR or sniper rifle. Unfortunately, the internals are not completely Tokyo Marui version 2 compatible, but like the A&K are compatible with G&P SR-25 upgrades.
Echo 1 XM110/M110 Automatic Electric Gun (AEG) = Rebranded JG[/u]
Price: $300 - $350
FPS: 400 - 450
Mags: Standard G&P SR-25 AEG high cap and midcap mag
Pros:
- Same as JG
Cons:
- Same as JG
When Echo 1 first released the SR-25 many assumed it to be a rebranded A&K, JG however soon released theirs and it was identified as the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the Echo 1.
G&G SR-25 Automatic Electric Gun = Original Design[/u]
Price: $400 - $430
FPS: 330 - 380
Mags: Proprietary G&G SR-25 AEG high cap and midcap mag
Pros:
- G&G external quality is high
- G&P high caps and midcaps fit with some modification
Cons:
- Based on the weaker standard version 2 instead of the “Long version 2 gearbox” like the G&P
- Internals are proprietary like ARES
Like the ARES the G&G SR-25 uses a standard version 2 gearbox, which basically means it cannot reach the same high FPS as the G&P and clones. The advantage is some parts are easier to repair but others, once broken are only available through G&G OEM. Also like the ARES the G&G SR-25 is not well suited for DMR or sniper work like the G&P and clones.
G&P SR-25 Automatic Electric Gun (AEG) = Original Design[/u]
Price: $530 - $550
FPS: 350 - 380
Mags: Standard G&P SR-25 AEG high cap and midcap mag
Pros:
- Extremely high quality internals and externals
- High strength “Long version 2 gearbox” for high FPS
Cons:
- Not 100% Tokyo Marui version 2 compatible
- Expensive
The G&P SR-25 was the first SR-25 in production and set the bar for innovative gearbox design. Unlike the standard version 2 gearbox the “Long/extended/modified” version 2 gearbox is larger and stronger in the areas that commonly break on a TM version 2 gearbox. This allows for much longer springs, thus higher FPS than normal. Some parts become proprietary as a result, but G&P markets a number of quality, high strength parts.
JG XM110/M110/URX Automatic Electric Gun (AEG) = G&P Clone[/u]
Price: $275 - $325
FPS: 400 - 450
Mags: Standard G&P SR-25 AEG high cap and midcap mag
Pros:
- High quality internals and externals
- High strength “Long version 2 gearbox” for high FPS
- Much closer rail design to the newer XM110/M110
Cons:
- Internals are a mix of SR-25 and standard version 2
- URX version is a poor copy with a stubby stock and ergo grip
Unlike the other G&P clones the JG XM110/M110 uses the G&P “Long version 2 gearbox,” but uses a set of standard version 2/3 gears, pistons, and cylinder. The G&P SR25 uses extended parts in the same areas to make up for the longer gearbox. The JG however still maintains the high strength design so it’s a good trade off.
