This is a VERY quick overview of the various types and brands of the numerous Remington 700R variants available; I will be attempting to keep it up-to-date if possible.
Three variants exist with minor variations
R700 = Civilian hunting rifle
M700 = Law enforcement sniper rifle
M24 = Military designation for the M700
AGM R700 Bolt Action Sniper Rifle (BASR = Tokyo Marui VSR-10 Clone[/u]
Price: $70 - $90
FPS: 360 – 380
Mags: Proprietary AGM R700 Spring low cap mag
Pros:
- Cheap
- Comes in both composite (plastic style) stocks and faux wood patterns
- Consistent spring based bolt action
Cons:
- While it is a “Tokyo Marui clone” the internals are proprietary and do not leave themselves open to upgrades or replacements
- Cheap, low quality externals and internals that will break quickly
AGM has always been a cheap company, both in price and quality. Their MP-001 line, aka the R700 is a starter sniper rifle. Like most of their rifles, they will make decent backyard or plinking rifles, but in terms of a base rifle for a competitive, accurate long range rifle, the MB-001 has little application.
Airsoft GI R700 Bolt Action Sniper Rifle = Tokyo Marui VSR-10 Clone[/u]
Price: $260
FPS: 550 - 570
Mags: Standard Tokyo Marui VSR-10 Spring low cap mag
Pros:
- 100% compatible with Tokyo Marui VSR-10 parts and upgrades
- Upgraded Jing Gong (JG) BAR-10 with reinforced parts
- Consistent spring based bolt action
Cons:
- ASGI upgrade parts are low quality and could be prone to early failure
- Out of the box FPS is extremely high and may not be legal on some fields it is NOT usable on some fields due to the extreme FPS
- Lower quality base rifle
The JG BAR-10 is a decent starter R700 replica. ASGI’s modifications both extend the durability of the internals somewhat as well as boost them. The downside is that the boost means it is unfieldable in many states, Michigan in particular, as it comes from ASGI shooting in the high 550’s well past the limits of most fields.
Classic Army M700/M24 Bolt Action Sniper Rifle (BASR) = Original Design[/u]
Price: $220 - $240
FPS: 430 - 450
Mags: Standard Classic Army/Maruzen M24/APS2 Spring low cap mag
Pros:
- Consistent spring based bolt action
- Spring and gas bolts available for a variety of propulsion power
- Some APS2 compatibility
Cons:
- Not 100% APS2 compatible
Classic Army makes quality replicas, and their M24 has gotten better with each release. While some parts are APS2 compatible, it may take a lot of careful and experienced fitting to work correctly. Fortunately Classic Army markets most replacement parts and upgrade parts themselves so they are guaranteed to work in their rifles.
Echo 1 M24 Bolt Action Sniper Rifle (BASR) = Rebranded KS[/u]
Price: $160 - $180
FPS: 500 - 530
Mags: Proprietary KS Spring low cap mag
Pro’s:
- Same as KS
Con’s:
- Same as KS
Echo 1 is simply a rebranding company, their M28 (M24) is a rebrand of the KS brand, a fairly new company to the airsoft world.
Javelin Gun Works M24 Bolt Action Sniper Rifle (BASR) = Rebranded Snow Wolf[/u]
Price: $160 - $200
FPS: 430 - 470
Mags: Proprietary Snow Wolf Spring low cap mag
Pros:
- Same as Snow Wolf
Cons:
- Same as Snow Wolf
Javelin Gun Works, like Echo 1, is simply a rebrand company. The Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Snow Wolf, is also a fairly new company that specializes in sniper rifles.
JG R700 Bolt Action Sniper Rifle (BASR) = Tokyo Marui VSR-10 Clone[/u]
Price: $130 - $150
FPS: 400 - 450
Mags: Standard Tokyo Marui VSR-10 Spring low cap mag
Pros:
- 100% compatible with Tokyo Marui VSR-10 parts and upgrades
- Decent out of the box quality
- Solid feeling externals
- G-Spec model similar to Tokyo Marui’s G-Spec. G-Spec is a reference for a “premium” model
Cons:
- Plastic internals means early failure of parts
- JG quality means random quality control
Since the release of the JG BAR-10 there has been an increase in readily available parts for the VSR-10. The initial quality of the BAR-10 is decent, with a cheap starting point for an upgraded BASR, JG offers a good product.
KJW R700/M700 Bolt Action Sniper Rifle (BASR) = Tanaka M700 Clone[/u]
Price: $190 - $220
FPS: 500 - 550
Mags: Standard Tanaka/KJW Gas low cap mag
Pro’s:
- Compatible with Tanaka M700 series parts
- Full size and quick take down (collapsible) versions available
- Gas based system
Con’s:
- Quick take down model can have gas leak issues
The KJW M700 is a decent gas based sniper rifle. The quick take down model is a bit finicky, but standard full size version is a good starting point.
KS M24 Bolt Action Sniper Rifle (BASR) = Original Design[/u]
Price: $110 - $120
FPS: 450 - 500
Mags: Proprietary KS Spring low cap mag
Pros:
- Replica of the M24 with adjustable stock
- Cheap intro price
Cons:
- KS quality is questionable as they are a new company
- Not compatible with other M24 mags
- Not 100% compatible with VSR or APS2 internals
KS is a new company to the airsoft scene. Echo 1 chose to import the KS and rebrand it. Unfortunately the internals are neither full APS2 nor VSR. Further research is highly recommended if you are looking into the KS model.
Snow Wolf M24 Bolt Action Sniper Rifle (BASR) = Original Design[/u]
Price: $110 - $120
FPS: 440 - 460
Mags: Proprietary Snow Wolf Spring low cap mag
Pros:
- One of the few companies to produce the adjustable stock
- Snow Wolf is making a name in sniper rifles
- More APS2 compatible than the KS/Echo 1
Cons:
- Not completely APS2 compatible
- Stocks are painted colors other than black, paint coverage wasn’t perfect
Unlike the KS/Echo 1, the Snow Wolf was rebranded by Javelin for the US market. Snow Wolf has been making a name for themselves in the sniper rifle world with their SW01 (Barrett M99) SW02 (Barrett M82) and now their SW04 M24 (M28). Quality may not be the best, but parts will be slightly easier to locate. Research is still highly suggested if you are considering the Snow Wolf/Javelin M24
SOCOM Gear R700 Bolt Action Sniper Rifle (BASR) = Rebranded JG BAR-10[/u]
Price: $85 - $95
FPS: 270 – 300 FPS
Mags: Standard Tokyo Marui VSR-10 Spring low cap mag
Pros:
- Same as JG
Cons:
- Same as JG
SOCOM Gear is yet another rebrand company. Nothing is special between the SOCOM Gear R700 and the JG BAR-10
UK Arms M24 Bolt Action Sniper Rifle (BASR) = Rebranded KS
Price: $100 - $140
FPS: 400 - 450
Mags: Proprietary KS Spring low cap mag
Pros:
- Same as KS
Cons:
- Same as KS
Another name for a china factory. Historically UK Arms has refered to JG, but in this case the UK Arms M24 is identical to the previously released KS and Echo 1 "M28" (M24).
UTG M700 Bolt Action Sniper Rifle (BASR) = Rebranded WELL
Price: $100 - $150
FPS: 400 - 450
Mags: Proprietary WELL Spring low cap mag
Pros:
- Same as WELL
Cons:
- Same as WELL
Like most other rebrand companies UTG offers a M700 style BASR. The UTG is fairly fragile and not upgradeable. Given the other options out there UTG has fallen out of favor.
WELL M700/M24 Bolt Action Sniper Rifle = Tokyo Marui VSR-10 Clone[/u]
Price: $90 - $150
FPS: 200 - 370
Mags: Proprietary WELL Spring low cap mag
Pros:
- Cheap pricing
Cons:
- Not 100% VSR clone so not all parts will fit
WELL was one of the first to offer the M700/M24 (M324) in airsoft. They have fallen out of favor since JG marketed the BAR-10. They aren’t 100% compatible and once broken aren’t fixable. Like the UTG, there are better options, but it’s a $90 rifle so it’s a start.
