This is a VERY quick overview of the various types and brands of the numerous Kalashnikov AK47 and its variants available; I will be attempting to keep it up-to-date if possible.
Like its western counterpart the AR-15, the AK47 has undergone many modifications and variations. The real AK47 is chambered in 7.62x39mm while an AK74 is chambered in 5.56x45mm, however airsoft AK’s all use the same magazines.

AKS74 = An AK with a side folding stock

Pros:
- Cheap
- Metal gearbox
Cons:
- Cheap internals and externals
- ABS externals
ARMY is a low end brand name, they aren’t terrible, but they aren’t great. The externals are lower quality ABS plastic, but it does have a metal gearbox. As far as bang for the buck, there are some better options, especially given the availability of the ARMY.

A.P.S is a new company, and while their products have many cool features such as real wood and EBB, they are a very low quality company with many reported issues. There are rumors A.P.S. is only a rebrand company, and markets other company’s rejected products, but this has not been proven.
