This is a VERY quick overview of the various types and brands of the numerous FN Herstal 240 variants available; I will be attempting to keep it up-to-date if possible.
There are number of variants of the FN Herstal M240 General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG).
M240 = Original model for vehicle mounted fire
M240 B/E4 = Standard issue infantry M240
M240 C = Modified M240 for use as a vehicle mounted machine gun
M240 D/E1 = A modular vehicle mounted M240 with the ability to be used as an infantry rifle
M240 G = A modular M240 used by Marine forces in air/vehicle/infantry
M240 H/E5 = A modified M240D with a rail equipped feed cover
M240 L = A modified M240B with lightweight parts for increase mobility
Echo 1 M240B Automatic Electric Gun (AEG) = Trigger Happy Clone
Price: $700 - $800
FPS: 380 - 410
Mags: Standard Trigger Happy M240 high cap box mag
Pros:
- Clone of the original Trigger Happy M240
- CNC aluminum externals
- VFC BAR gearbox clone
Cons:
- Extremely pricy
- Heavy
The Echo 1 M240B is a heavy, expensive machine gun. While the price is high, the original was nearly twice the price tag. Overall the Echo 1 is well accepted. The OEM is rumored to be “Black Bear” a newer company from China.
Inokatsu M240B/D Automatic Electric Gun (AEG) = Original Design

- Full metal internals
- PGC style gearbox with quick change spring system
- It’s an Inokatsu!
Cons:
- Extremely pricy
- Extremely pricy
Inokatsu is known for producing some of the most realistic airsoft guns on the market. The M240 is a complete steel, aluminum, and wood replica. The only particular cons are finding the M240, and if you find it, the $2000+ price tag.
Trigger Happy M240B Automatic Electric Gun (AEG) = Original design
Price: $1400 - $1800
FPS: 300 - 350
Mags: Standard Trigger Happy M240 high cap box mag
Pros:
- High quality externals
- Comes as a conversion kit for the VFC BAR
Cons:
- Discontinued
- Based around a unique gearbox
Trigger Happy is known for manufacturing excellent externals, with CNC aluminum and steel. Unfortunately the Trigger Happy M240 is discontinued.
